30/09/2017 (Saturday!)
This morning I GOT MY LAY IN! It was only until 8am, but even so what with all the 6am early wake up’s this was well deserved and most definitely welcome!
We actually had a more relaxing day today, and headed off for some retail therapy at the Mall of Milenia. It was nice to chill out and do a bit of shopping, which included buying 2 new fitbit’s. Mine had given up the day before and Luke had decided he wanted a new one.
In the evening Luke and I got ourselves ready and headed over to Disney Boardwalk for our 8pm reservation at Flying Fish.
Disney’s BoardWalk, is a quarter-mile promenade of dining, unique shops and exciting nightlife, as well as some street performers too. It’s beautiful scenery here and is ideal for a lovely evening stroll and a drink in one of the bars, it’s like Disney springs only more quaint and less busy.
TIP-There is easy access from Epcot to Disney Boardwak
As I mentioned our dinner reservation was at 8pm at Flying Fish, a restaurant neither Luke or myself had eaten in before, but had both heard pretty good reviews about it. Unfortunately it was another rainy evening, so the stroll around the boardwalk we had planned we didn’t actually do!
Flying Fish is a contemporary table service American restaurant serving seafood and prime steaks.
The decor inside the restaurant is very elegant, and there is a formal dress code!
We were seated promptly and our server was with us pretty quickly.
I found the menu at flying fish quite limited in comparison to other Walt Disney World restaurants I have eaten in.
I decided to pass on the apertizer but Luke opted to try the potato and Leek bisque (I couldn’t try it as it had bacon in) but Luke said it was very nice. For our mains we both went for the Salmon which we both found enjoyable.
Although I cannot fault the food, this was my least memorable dinning experience, apart from the company (my boyfriend Luke) nothing particularly stood out for me. It was quite pricey, and I would much prefer to eat at somewhere like California grill and spend a little more, but enjoy it.
This is another restaurant I would miss out in the future. But at the same time I am glad I got to experience it.
Once we left flying fish the skies had once again opened up and it was now torrential rain, well in a situation like this there really is only one thing to do….. make a pit stop at Ample Hills creamery!!
Definitely check these guys out while your at Disney boardwalk!!
We ate our dessert outside sitting at one of the tables that was under the canopy, the dessert was completely delicious!! I admit I was full from dinner so we shared a dessert, I mean when I say shared I had a few mouthfuls and Luke had the rest!!
A word of warning, whilst sitting there indulging on our waffle cone, we saw a lady take quite a bad full whilst waking on the boardwalk which is made out wooden slats (like any normal boardwalk/pier) obviously they get very slippery so take care out there in the rain!!
We finished our night off by filling up our refillable resort mugs (why not right) and heading back to the resort room to dry off.
I wish I could have visited the boardwalk when the sun was out because you can tell how beautiful it is. I could definitely spend an entire evening here, just not in the rain!……
