Luke and I have a total of 4 suitcases and 2 pieces of hand luggage between us, I think it’s time to let the adventure start!

Checking into the Sofitel Gatwick London

This was our first time staying here in the Sofitel as we usually stay at the Hilton at Gatwick instead, but thought we would try something different this time round. We checked in around 2pm and found that our room was ready for us. Luke had requested a view of the runway which was amazing, if you book here definitely request a room with a runway view!

There are 3 restaurants at the Sofitel Which ALL NEED BOOKING!! We actually didn’t know this in advance but luckily there was room for us. We ate at Le brassier which is an English/French style restaurant. Both Luke and I enjoyed our meals, the food was very nice and the service prompt.and we even managed a sneaky cocktail each!I have taken a picture of the menu in the other restaurant at the Sofitel so that if you are staying there you can choose well in advance as to wear you eat.

Back in the hotel room later that night I feel asleep watching the planes…. no seriously I did! Luke was watching tv and we had the curtains wide open and I fell asleep ….. perfect

TRAVEL DAY, Flying Premium Economy with Virgin Atlantic and checking into the Club room.

I was awake at 6am!! Come on I was too excited to sleep!! And Luke and I had decided that we wanted to be out of the hotel room by 7.30am, there is nothing worse for us than standing in a long line waiting to check in!! So we like to get there by 8am if not before!!

Check in and security were a breeze!! We got through security so quick, even with me being searched! Yes it happens all the time!! I think it was my hair pins in my messy bun? But anyway I got through in the end with my pride in tact!!

After the obligatory duty free stop (it’s tradition that I buy TWO perfumes in duty free, I also bought one for Luke.

Luke told me he had upgraded us from the NO1 lounge to the club room lounge. A lovely thought from my thoughtful boyfriend although I would have been happy with the NO1 lounge. I like the club room because it’s usually never very busy so it’s a nice and quiet place to chill out in, and also it’s a kid zone free, which is nice when you don’t have any kids and you want just relax. The chairs are comfy and the service was very very prompt. All food and drink here are completely complimentary. I have to say I did find the selection of food available to be minimal and the the pastries was limited to croissants and chocolate croissants. The lounge which we usually use when flying home from Orlando has a much wider variety of food available.

We spent 3 hours here (which is the most amount of time you can spend) in the clubhouse and it’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of airport life. My tip- Don’t forget a jumper! It gets really really cold in there!!

Okay so now we’ve had breakfast, chatted, chilled out and it’s now 12pm…. We are ready for boarding to open!!

We flew with Virgin Atlantic on the Pretty Woman (also one of my favourite films) in premium economy, which is another first for us as we usually fly economy with extra leg room! Boarding was also a breeze (hang on, it’s been too easy so far, let’s not forget we still have customs to get through!!)

Premium economy on Virgin Atlantic is amazing!! We managed to get the upper deck second row from the front! There were 10 rows in our section altogether, 5 on each side. What makes it even better is that they are all 2 seaters instead of the usual 3. We had plenty of leg room, and even had side compartments under the window! Great for storing extra bits in! The complimentary glass of bubbly or orange juice is a lovely little touch too.

The film choice wasn’t great, I had actually seen most of the new release’s, so I settled on Kong: Skull Island, a horror called Belko and my trusty book which got me through the rest of the flight!

I always love the plane food unlike my sister who only ever eats the bread rolls (I’m not joking either) I tend to eat everything! I’m a pescatarian and I will ALWAYS order the Asian vegetarian option which I book online well in advance. It’s normally a delicious a curry with a flat bread and rice, it’s the best plane food I’ve ever had, which is why I will always choose that from now on.

I definitely got well fed! No need for any of the little treats I had in my hand luggage!!!

There were also some mini treats along the way too!!

And then it was time for afternoon tea!!

Feeling so full!! We still had about 2 hours left of the flight…. hello Snapchat!!!

Ooooh processco and chocolate? I think I’ve got room for that!!

Happy when I saw this

YES WE LANDED!!!!

It was a long flight, but we loved flying premium economy with Virgin Atlantic, I definitely recommend it, its a nice way to start your trip.

Now the craziness can begin!!!!!!
